Does researching casual marijuana use cause brain abnormalities?

Originally posted on Bits of DNA:

In reading the news yesterday I came across multiple reports claiming that even casually smoking marijuana can change your brain.  I usually don’t pay much attention to such articles; I’ve never smoked a joint in my life. In fact, I’ve never even smoked a cigarette.  So even though as a scientist I’ve been interested in cannabis from the molecular biology point of view, and as a citizen from a legal point of view, the issues have not been personal. However reading a USA Today article  about the paper, I noticed that the principal investigator Hans Breiter was claiming to be a psychiatrist and mathematician . That is an unusual combination so I decided to take a closer look. I immediately found out the claim was a lie. In fact, the totality of math credentials of Hans Breiter consist of some logic/philosophy courses during a year abroad at St. Andrews while he was a pre-med student…

Empathy and Weight Gain

Yes. They are linked.

Most doctors and psychologist focus on the ‘depression’ aspect of uncontrollable weight gain, but the connection with extreme sensitivity to other people’s emotions is often overlooked.

Maybe it’s the frenzy with social media spirituality (who’s the most popular and 100% raw?!), but it seems our societal obsession with perfection has lead us to believe that if we don’t look a certain way, we’re just not spiritual enough (as if women need one more thing to feel guilty about).

Some of the most tuned-in, loving, wise, altruistic people I know carry a few extra pounds. Many of my clients who have extreme empathic/physic abilities almost universally struggle with weight gain and/or health issues. This is due to the way their body translates the energy of others…

We’re back! Well, Almost!

Sorry for the sudden drop off of the planet. Unfortunately my illness had taken hold of me for for a while and didn’t allow either of us to prepare a statement we would be taking an unexpected hiatus from our website and blog. But as I seem to be improving a bit, it looks like I will begin posting again. On behalf of L&L Photography and L&L Images, we hope those of you who followed us in the past will once again begin to follow us. We have so many new and exciting images to share with you. Our posts will likely be once to twice weekly for a while, but we will keep you informed. Wow the blog has changed a bit, it will take me some time to get reacquainted with the new format.

Many Thanks,

Louise and Lloyd, L&L Photography
